Sa Simula (In the Beginning), Marilen Faustino - Montenegro's debut solo exhibition, unfolds as a poetic ode to nature and The Divine Creator.

Each stroke is a tribute to Marilen’s profound connection with nature as she surrenders to the whims of water, allowing it to dance freely across the canvas. She embraces the fluidity, giving rise to organic shapes reminiscent of various aquatic waves, billowing clouds, and the masculinity of land and rock.

Sa Simula serves not only as a reflection of Marilen's artistic evolution but an invitation to pause, rest and be still in the face of nature’s beauty.

About The Artist

Marilen Faustino-Montenegro, a Manila-based abstract artist, skillfully balances beauty with peculiarity. Transitioning from successful careers in interior design and modeling, Marilen now channels her passion for abstract art.

Her paintings, a fusion of acrylic and oil, delve into deep emotions and intuition. Central to her artistic journey is her debut solo exhibit, "Sa Simula" ("In the Beginning"), which is curated by Tim Yap and runs from May 18-31, 2024, at JStudio in Makati City.

Marilen holds a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from De La Salle University College of St. Benilde and the Philippine School of Interior Design. She reflects, "I have always felt most alive when I can create or express myself." Her post-college years were a testament to this as she practiced design while expressing herself through modeling.
